Ulyanovsk can be legally called city-museum. Really, here are many museums and all of them are organically interlaced with city culture and architecture. History of many Ulyanovsk museums is rooted in the distant past, when Simbirsk scientists and collectors gathered and presented to their native city large cultural and scientific heritage.
In 2005 two Ulyanovsk regional museums - Museum of local lore and Museum of Arts - celebrated their anniversary - 110 years since foundation day! These museums are the most favorite and popular among the citizens and guests of the city. Here, in the collection of rare exhibits, is presented the whole history of the Simbirsk region - from the foundation till our days.
State historical-memorial preserve "Homeland of V.I. Lenin" in 2004 was only 20, but has already became a pride and the main point of interest of Ulyanovsk. Not only citizens, but also numerous tourists aspire to walk in "museum in the open air", and for a moment to be carried away to Simbirsk of the 19th century.

Undory paleontological museum is a branch of I.A. Goncharov regional museum of local lore. The museum was opened in November 1990 in Undory Village of the Ulyanovsk region.
The exposition contains remains of ancient sea pangolins: ichthyosaurus, plesiosaur, pliosaurus.

The museum of civil aviation was opened in 1983 at the territory of Ulyanovsk higher flying college. Museum includes more than 9 thousand exhibits, including hundreds of originals. Documental exposition tells about formation and development of the national civil aviation fleet. The most precious is an aerotechnics exhibition near the airport Ulyanovsk-Centralny.

The museum "Meteorological station of Simbirsk" was opened in September 1998. It was arranged in the house of A.P. Yazykov. Museum exposition tells about the history of meteorological observations in Simbirsk, about outstanding scientists- climatologists; about the founder of Meteorological station P.M. Kozakevich.

In 1979 in Ulyanovsk was opened constantly working fire-technical exhibition, which was situated first in Pozharny Lane, and then in the building of pre-revolutionary fire station in Lenin St. The exhibition was renamed into the center of fire-prevention information and public relations of UGPS UVD of the Ulyanovsk region).

The museum was opened in 1975. Exhibits of the museum acquaint us with the plant history, collective of workers, tells us about the past and the future of the plant. In the museum are frequently conducted exhibitions, contests, actions, dedicated to machine-building industry in Ulyanovsk. Rarity black-and-white photographs from the archives of the museum of labor glory in "UAZ" tell about 30-year-old history of development of the plant auto sport.

Ulyanovsk museum of the locomotive depot history is one of the best road museums. For the last year it was reconstructed and thorough repaired, 149.4 thousand roubles was spent for this. Historical exhibits, such as steam locomotive models, photographs, flags, miniature "architectural" constructions, and etc. are keepers of olden times in the museum.

Ecological center of pupils of the Department of Education of the Ulyanovsk region was created in 1990. It includes a network of ecological clubs and groups in Ulyanovsk and districts of the region, where study more than 4 thousand children. Annually are prganized expiditions and summer ecological camps, where children study plants and animals, conduct monitoring of especially protected nature areas of the Ulyanovsk region.

In March 1997 the ecological department of UlSU together with Department of education of the Ulyanovsk region and Ecological center of students opened the first part of exposition of the museum of natural sciences of UlSU. It is dedicated to paleontology, paleo-ecology, geology, flora and fauna of the Ulyanovsk region. In 1998 in museum was overhauled, students and tutors made exhibits and visual aids.
