Voskresenskaya Church

Voskresenskaya Church is one of the youngest churches of the city. This is the only pre-revolutionary stone church, which remained in Ulyanovsk till present days. It was erected in 1911 as a churchyard by the project of F.Livchak and represents classical type of Byzantine Temple of the late period of the 13th - 15th centuries.

Building of the former Voskresenskaya (Germanovskaya) parish church

Voskresensko-Germanovsky cathedral (in honor of Saint German Kazansky) - is the only extant church from 27 temples of ancient Simbirsk. Building of the former Voskresenskaya (Germanovskaya) parish church was erected in 1720-s and is a monument of religious architecture, remained from the 18th century.

Building of the former theological seminary

Theological seminary was established upon initiative of the first Simbirsk archbishop Anatoly on the 16th of December 1840.
At the end of the 18th century at this place was situated a two-storied building - the southern part of the present-day building. In 1841 to the construction was attached its north part, also two-storied. After the conflagration of 1864 the building was reconstructed and became three-storied.

All-Saints Temple

On the gentle slope to Sviyaga - one of three rivers of the city, among green trees, rises a small wooden temple, sanctified in the name of All Saints (patron saint's day in the first week of Pentecost).
This is one of the newly erected Orthodox temples of Ulyanovsk. Its building was started in the Birthday of John the Forerunner - on the 7th of July 1995, and consecration took place in the Lady Day of Holy Virgin - on the 7th of April 1996.

Blagoveschensky Temple

On the basis of the temple was laid the frame of Znamenskaya Church from the patrimonial estate of Karamzin's family from the Maina region of the Ulyanovsk region. Department for cultural affairs couldn't support such object, which was considered to be the monument of history and culture, and, on agreement with the regional administration, agreed that the construction would be used in building.

Vladimir Temple

In September 1990 in Volzhskaya Street, there, where in former times were waste grounds and a stadium, was initiated a temple complex in honor of equal to the apostles princess Olga and prince Vladimir, Saint righteous John Kronshtadtsky. In 1990 was laid and sanctified the cross, which still stands. For only eight months Vladimir Temple was built, and in 1991 here began services. Later was opened Sunday school for grown-ups and was formed man's choir.

Mikhailo-Archangelsky Temple

Mikhailo-Archangelsky Temple is situated near the altar of the domestic church of Simbirsk Theological Seminary.

Orthodox rehabilitation center in Arskoe

In Ulyanovsk village Arskoe was built a temple complex. It also includes the oldest temple of the region - Temple of Epiphany. The church that was built three and a half centuries ago, was restored by enthusiasts efforts. Arskoe surroundings are the real fount of historical, cultural and natural monuments.

Evangelical-Lutheran Church of St. Maria (Kirche)

German Kirche was built at the beginning of the 20th century according the project of the architect A.A. Shode in the style of provincial gothic temples. Not long ago the building has celebrated its 90th birthday. However, in fact Lutheran Church was built earlier - in 1847, according to the project of architect Efimov.

Orthodox gymnasium

In Zheleznodorozhny district of Ulyanovsk were started works for building of the first in the region Orthodox gymnasium. Group of companies «Dvortsovy Riad» take an initiative in its projection and building. The Regional Administration and Administration of the district allotted a perfect place for the building — near the park zone, at the deserted area overgrown with wild grass, near the orthodox parish of John the Baptist.

Saint- Bogoroditse-Neopalimovsky Cathedral (Cathedral of the Holy Virgin 'Burning Bush')

Neopalimovsky Cathedral is the former parish church of Kulikovka Village, which was built in 1910-s and was sanctified in 1912.
Especially for the temple, was ordered the icon of the Holy Virgin "Burning Bush" on the Holy Mountain Afon; on it remained to our days an inscription: "For the church in Kulikovka Village". The icon arrived to Simbirsk on the 15th of August 1911.

Temple of the Nativity of Christ

In 1651 was built the first wooden single-alter church in the name of the Nativity of Christ in Mostovaya Sloboda Village in three versts ( verst = 3500 ft. ) from the city (in 1974 the village became the part of Ulyanovsk). In 1804 at the place of the former church on blessing of Kazan Archbishop Sergiy was erected a single-altar stone temple. In 1891 the church was rebuilt at the expense of donations of parishioners and private persons, except for the bell tower.

House of prayer of all people

The building was established in 1992—1995. Author of the project is engineer A.G. Nenilin.

Evidently, Community of evangelic Baptist Christians kept on working without registration until 1978, after it was officially closed in 1949. It included 140 members. Prayerful public worships were held in a private house, which belonged to one of the faithful, at #68, Krasnoarmeyskaya Str. (since 1987/1988 — #96)

Church of Seventh-Day Adventist Christians

Building of wooden prayer house was started in 1996. It was supposed to finish work in 1999.

At the end of 1999 in view of changes in economic situation in the country, building was stopped, and in August 2000 an unfinished building was sold to the religious Protestant organization «The Gospel Light».

The central mosque

The mosque building is a former building of Michailovskaya bath-house, which was reconstructed according to the project of I.Kh. Sibgatullin in 1989 —  1993. There was built a minaret, 18 m height. Its broach part 4,5 m height was made of polished stainless steel in the joint-stock company «Aviastar». In March 1989 at the reconstructed mosque the faithful began to hold prayerful meetings. There is a Moslem gymnasium — madrasah (built in 1993), attached to the mosque.

Mosque of Tagir-Kalyametdin

The mosque (a one-storey building) was built and opened in 1994, according to the project and on means of T.K. Shangareev. Height of the minaret is 27 meters. The first in Russia Institute of Islam Sciences, attached to the mosque, work here since the 20th of August 1995. In its four-storey building are situated study rooms, office, canteen and dormitory for students. Building was conducted with the help of society «Bait Allah». Head of this Moslem community and rector of the institute is T.K. Shangareev. In May 1999 first forty students were graduated. Among them there was the present imam of the mosque, R. Khasanov.
