In the course of time Simbirsk-Ulyanovsk has considerably changed its architectural appearance. In post-revolutionary years was declared a war to all palaces, temples and other architectural heritage of "damned tsarism". So the whole city of Simbirsk was almost razed to the ground, which before revolution was called "a nobleman of the Volga River" for its beauty. In the 20-s and the 30-s of the 20th century was destroyed religious architecture, and that was more than 40 temples. High-rise silhouette of Simbirsk was entirely lost. Historical appearance of the city, its unique architectural charm is perfectly represented at the panorama of Simbirsk in Lenin Memorial. But when Ulyanovsk replaced Simbirsk, at the end of 1960-s began new wave of destructions. Then by 100-year anniversary of Lenin's birthday the city was completely reconstructed at the expense of destruction of its historical part. Now new surge of destruction grows stronger - under the pressure of cottages goes to non-existence wooden architecture of the 20th century at the central and north parts of the city. Future generations and our contemporaries will remember quite another city - many-storied, modern, and dressed in glass and concrete, with many trade and entertaining centers in bright futuristic and neoclassic style.

"Amarant" is a new trade and office complex in the center of Ulyanovsk. The building project was realized by the company "Amarant-RPK" headed by director general Vladimir Rtischev.
During the building of "Amarant" complex (total area is 6 thousand sq.m.) were used not only modern technologies of decorating and original interior ideas, but also new ventilating and conditioning systems.

The 24-storied hotel "Venets" was built in 1970 in the frameworks of reconstruction of the center of Ulyanovsk by 100-year anniversary of V.I. Lenin birthday. Total area of the complex is more than 26 thousand square meters. In the hotel there are 281 rooms.

Lenin memorial in Ulyanovsk is a public house, which was built in 1967-1970 in commemoration of the centenary anniversary of V.I. Lenin's birthday. The architects are B.S. Mezentsev, M.P. Constantinov, G.G. Isakovich, engineer L.B. Fabrikant. The Memorial building is faced with white marble; it is notable for solemn clearness and laconic forms.
